October at the Royal Łazienki

On 5, 12 and 19 October, the Royal Łazienki Museum invites you to a series of lectures on the "Rembrandt i inni. Królewska kolekcja obrazów" ["Rembrandt and others. The royal painting collection"] exhibition. The program includes lectures by outstanding researchers of the age, art historians, Rembrandt connoisseurs and experts on the secrets of the conservation of the paintings from King Stanisław August Poniatowski's collection.

"Puść Oko" ("Wink an Eye") are unusual encounters with art, aimed at children aged 6-12. During Sunday workshops, children will explore the most interesting and yet undiscovered objects from the Royal Łazienki, meet with interesting people and learn how art can be interpreted using modern technologies – through design, photography, theater and cuisine. Every week another object, each week a different medium.

Starting from October, the Royal Łazienki invite children aged 3-5 to weekly Sunday
workshops " OKULARY SALOMONA - WARSZTATY OGLĄDACZA SZTUKI" ["SOLOMON's GLASSES – ART WORKSHOP OF AN ART WATCHER"]. The workshops aim to teach the youngest children how to watch and explore the world of art.

In October will also see Meetings with Poetry. This time among the charming scenery of the Old
Orangery, actors will read their most beloved poems by European artists: 2.10 – Russian Poetry, 9.10 – Greek Poetry, 16.10 – Old Irish Poetry and 23.10 – Polish poetry.

The Royal Łazienki Museum Education Centre also invites to the "Stacja Kordegarda" ["Station Guardhouse"] at the Old Guardhouse. Every day between 11 am and 4 pm, a wealth of creative activities awaits you there: board games, games straight from the 18th century, art classes, screenings, exhibitions and workshops as well as a large selection of books.

Sommelier Recommends

Amarone – a wine for autumn

Autumn is a special season for all wine lovers. The cooler days in October and November are perfectly conducive to meetings, during which we can enjoy good food and of course good, slightly heavier drinks.

I would like to invite you to taste one of the best wines in the world – with the fullest body, full of unique flavors: cherry jam, plum pudding, raisins, rose petals and spices – the Amarone wine. This delicious drink is created from dried grapes on the hills surrounding Verona, according to tradition dating back to Byzantine times. It is a blend of the Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara strains and about 15% of other varieties.

At the Belvedere restaurant, you will find Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG " Bosan" Cesari. The quality of Amarone Bosan is the fruit of efforts and deep attention devoted to the management of the vineyard. The correct density of planting, trimming branches, thinning and selection of the best quality bunches provide grapes that after a thorough drying for 4 months allow for the creation of this
exceptional wine. It is clearly balanced, with velvety softness and good acidity with noble tannins.

A perfect accompaniment to venison and grilled or stewed meat and an ideal companion for social gatherings, as well as for wine contemplation.

I highly recommend it, Artur Bidziński
